Rescue Girl (Modded Obitsu head - FINISHED)

Recommended Posts

Ara

Long time, no see.

With all my hobbies and my work on top it's so hard to be active everywhere

But I wanted to show this little WIP of mine.

I got the head from my girlfriend, she found her a while ago and thought I might be able to give that girl a new chance.

Her former owner had tried to open up her eyes, failed and then decided to just give up on it.

So I opened her eyes, re-shaped them to a different shape, modded her philtrum and slightly modded her lips.

I also already started her face-up, but I'm a bit unsure now what color her eyebrows should be.

The head is a "Obitsu Designer head 60HD-F08W" in Obitsu's white skin.

Anyway, here are a few pictures I took already:

That's how I got her. Got the feeling the former owner was a bit frustrated that his attempt of opening the eyes didn't turn out to be so easy. I must admit it really isn't easy, that stuff is really hard to get through without the right tools.

After opening up her eyes. I prefer cute big eyes, so I not only opened the eyes but also changed their shape. Still a bit unsmoothed inside.

Before modding her philtrum...I disliked the lack of a curve and decided to carve one.

And afterwards, smoothed out the eyes a bit more, added the curve and also made her smile a bit more visible

Started face-up, already finished a good part of the eyes and added the blushing.

She will get subtle, naturally looking eyeshadow, eyelids and of course eyebrows in the end.

Also I'm more a fan of very detailed and fine face-ups (I usually paint other dolls), so I tried to mix that up with the usual DD-esque style. I don't like it when the eyes are just a solid block of color with two strokes on the side.

The poor girl will be for sale as soon as I have finished her.

I had planned to keep her, but we seriously lack space for another big doll (I already don't know where to put my last one).

What do you think of her so far?:)

I love how the face-up looks. I also like the lip mods.

I like how you modded her philtrum and her smile. She looks much better now!

What did you use for the mods. Did you just sand it down?

Totally missed these comments, sorry guys.

She's still on my work table but will be finally finished today and then go for sale.

Already looking forward to the pictures

Amara, I used sandpaper and a round needle file. The latter because it's easier to get a curve with it.

The eyes were opened with a dremel and afterwards I did the detail work with the file again, in the end another round of sandpaper to smooth everything out.

And here are two first pictures of her finished.

She's for sale, so if you are interested drop me a PM with a price

Thanks you two

She's sadly still living with me, I had a person who was very interested in her but in the end stopped responding.

I had no energy yet to but her up for sale again, should do so soonly so she doesn't stay in the box for months.

Oh my, what an amazing transformation! You've really done a fantastic job with her so far. I can definitely relate to the previous owner getting frustrated trying to open her eyes though. Such a lucky girl to have a second chance. ^^

Thank you very much guys

She gladly found a new owner not so long ago and she's very happy with her (and I couldn't be happier either).

Beautiful work! She looks so sweet and innocent and I'm glad she found a new home. :3 I love how versatile the designer head is.

Also, I realized that it is actually possible to mod an obitsu head with just an exacto knife, needle files, and a lot of time and patience. xD;; A Dremel would have made it a lot faster though. I'm not sure if I'll be willing to (literally) take a stab at a doll head again to open its eyes/mouth, but hey it was a learning experience.. and the result wasn't too bad imho ^^ /shot
