Mori_Summer Posted April 30, 2014 So I bought my first SQ lab head with two pairs of eyes a couple months ago, and what I want to know is what is the best material (i.e. glue, putty) to hold the eyes in place without being permanent, because I would like to swap out the eyes with the other set when the occasion calls for it. I read on the Volks website that a low temperature glue gun is best for holding the eyes in place while still being easily removable. However, we all know Dollfies are made from vinyl and SQ lab are made from resin, so I wasn't sure if the low temp glue gun would work without causing any damage. This is going to be my first custom, so I'm still figuring out the dos and don'ts. Thanks in advance!
chien Posted April 30, 2014 I found that silicone ear plugs work awesome for vinyl, while I greatly prefer kneaded eraser or sticky tack for resin. If you can find white sticky tack, even better.
Dollvari Posted April 30, 2014 It's my understanding you use putty with resin. I have an SQlab head and will only use putty in it. I like to glue in my DD eyes, I don't like to swap eyes allot. I have used silicone ear plugs, and found they worked well. As far as the tack goes, stay away from blue colored tack. I would not use glue if you plan to swap eyes every now and then.
