Family Update at the Madhouse

 

(Sorry if I've already posted this pic, I couldn't remember.) Bree now has her own body & Sohi has her proper eyes so now they finally do look like sisters. Rainie often spends time with Bree telling her about all the different kinds of pokemon, and Sohi seems to take great pleasure at staring at people, especially me and Tama. Needless to say, he is rather scared of her. Tama is still worried that somehow Sohi is going to commandeer his bed, even though she has never made an attempt to as far as I know. With the addition of another MDD in the house, things have gone a lot more smoothly than I feared they would. I believe this is due to Tama ignoring the fact that Bree exists.

 

 

Tamayuki: "I'm Tama Applesauce and I'm here to defend your kitchen from bad tasting food!"

 

Dolly: "Hey! My name isn't Stu!!!"

 

I found these pan sets at the dollar store a couple of weeks ago. The handles of the utensils are too fat, but luckily that part snaps off so I can make new handles to fit his hands. One of these days I'm going to get around to making his kitchen so he can use all the kitchen equipment I've been stashing for years.

 

 

Dakota Has been entertaining herself with a group from the 90s... after she saw me watching one of their videos from their new album. All she had to hear was "Raise your drinks in the air..." and decided that

is now her personal theme song. I'm surely not complaigning!

 

 

And here is my newest girl who got here just today. I think I'm still in shock despite that this has been many months in the the works. I still think of her as my unexpected unicorn. Even though I've been in love with Baldylox's Elizabeth for at least two years now, I never, ever expected to have my own Mikuru. I'm just in awe. Now that I have two of the older girls (Ellie being the other) I can say that there really is something special about them, being so cute is only part of it.

 

I have seen the anime that Mikuru is from and find her character really adorable, but that's not who I wanted her to be. Big surprise isn't it? Instead she is Daisy Patches. She's going to be fun to have around but I need to get her own clothing made because it is different than anything else we currently have. What she's wearing is the closest I could put together with what we have at the moment. She will eventually be a compilation of a couple of other characters that I grew up with, but that's all I'm saying for now.

 

Sometimes I like to play with numbers, and I find it very curious that she is mine and Raven's 10th completed girl, and my personal 8th, and my birthday is October (10) 8th. Just like Ellie, Daisy is another one of my DD girls that harbors a lot of my memories from things important to me as a kid but have been very hard to hold onto as an adult. I have yet to figure out why the numbers of her birthday crack me up: 6/14/14 Maybe just because it looks odd.

 

 

And here she is with her dog Batten Hatches, who is special in his own right even if he looks a bit derpy.

I need to take some time soon to get a group pic of everyone who is completed so far. It has been a long time. And that background... ugh. I seriously need to do something else.

Whoa, so many updates in your family! New bodies! New kitchenware! And a new girl! Whooooo!

 

It's so good to see Bree and Sohi together at last! I adore that photo of them because not only do they look really happy to be together, all those pastel colors look just fantastic. It's like a cotton candy factory exploded there! Such a sweet photo!

 

Dakota totally cracks me up with her choice of music. But as long as she's happy, let her listen to whatever cheesy retro boy bands she wants to right? Just make sure she doesn't try 98 degrees, man do those fools stink. LOL

 

And it's SO NICE that Mikuru finally arrived! I remember talking to you about her when you saw her for sale online.... aren't you glad you asked the question I told you to ask the seller? She looks really great and I'm so happy you could add her to your family. Now you see why my Elisabeth is so special to me! And thanks so much for the compliments on her, I'm glad you like Elizabeth enuff to go after your own. I think she's underappreciated as a DD, she's just way cute in person! I don't think she works very well as the character Mikuru but using her for your own character like we're doing is the best thing for her for sure.

I love their hair together. I think that was the main thing that made me fall in love with Sohi enough to save up for her. The pink hair just caught me. It also reminds me a LOT of my favorite character character from Katawa Shoujo. I don't know why it wasn't until after she arrived that we realized that she HAD to be Bree's sister. At least her personality tends to be a bit mellower.

 

And it's SO NICE that Mikuru finally arrived! I think she's underappreciated as a DD, she's just way cute in person! I don't think she works very well as the character Mikuru but using her for your own character like we're doing is the best thing for her for sure.

 

She really doesn't look much like Mikuru to me at all, which is probably a big part of why she is so often overlooked, but she IS one of the most adorable girls Volks has done. I agree that she is fantastic to use as an OC.

I know it has been a long time. Every once in a while I wanted to come onto the forums and yell "Hey I'm still here!!" but I was a tiny bit afraid that people would wonder who in the heck I am. I definitely felt like I got swallowed up by real life even though Raven and I still spend time with our DD every day. His work is picking up again so we are slowly getting life back together after the roller coaster of the last 2 1/2 years.

 

We love our DD for sure, but I've just had to step back and get things taken care of around the house. Not being in school has reminded me of how small my world really is because of my allergies. Saturdays are the one day of the week that I leave the house to go grocery shopping. I'm probably one of the few people who gets depressed when the warmth of late spring starts setting in, because it means less freedom because it gets too darn hot to go outside in long sleeves and layers. Even so I still have to wear a shawl even when I'm in the car.

 

This is the start of the fifth year that I've had to deal with my sun allergy, and this spring I just about went crazy not being able to garden. A country girl not being able to have plants growing is just wrong. So for Mother's Day, Raven let me buy a bunch of seeds for an indoor garden experiment. Personally it has been amazing watching things grow so up-close compared to if I had a vegetable garden. There was a ton of things I planted, but I think I was a bit insane planting 4 hubbard squash seeds. All of them sprouted and are growing like crazy even in the east facing window they are in. One of the leaves is almost bigger than Dolly, and flower buds are finally popping up too. Most of what I planted is pretty darn scraggily because insufficient light issues, but is it also why I think of it as an experiment. Over time I'll be able to get better lighting set up on timers and everything, but it's my work in progress indoor garden. I think that most of what I planted was various squash so I'm going to have the vines taking over the house by the end of Summer. One of the most amazing things is I discovered that the leaves of the pie pumpkins smell like roasted peanuts! I wish I could share that because it is just so cool!

 

I have been aching to get pics of it all, especially since Tama and Ellie are uber excited about the plants, and the new wooden porch swing that "Grammy Pammy" (my mom) gave them last month. It is really adorable. The problem is that the rest of the house, not including Naiomi's stage, is not suitable for photo purposes at the moment. Hence the reason I keep using the same freaking backdrop. *Smacks head into the wall* There was only a short few months after we got Tama & Yuriko where life was really headed in a direction I was happy with until school came and decimated it all. My house unfortunately is a reflection of that. I've had to step back from DD hobby stuff for a while to finally get it dealt with. Not being able to do photo stories has been hugely depressing. Naiomi's a bit irked at me that the store still isn't open, but I keep assuring her that it will totally happen once I can get a few of the rooms organized and some sanity back into our house.

 

I am happy to have a few new pics to share. I was going to take a pic with both Bree & Tama in the same shot (because I can!!) last night but the battery on the camera was nearly dead. Raven really needs to track down the plug adapter for our camera. Since all my photos are indoors it seems insane that I have to go off of the battery and it makes lengthy photo stories a royal pain to do. The pic of Sohi and Bree was supposed to be part of an Easter photo story of them digging through the goodies mom sent over, but because of back issues at the time I think I only got 2 pictures taken. Even so I'm glad you like it so much!

 

Ah, the bodies and body bits... Since Sohi has her pink eyes, Kiyoteru snagged her defaults so he's another step closer in his WIP status. Lucas finally has his proper bust piece now, and Ralph is looking more and more like Tama's big brother. I never expected him to go into a growth spurt, but he sure has! (Still trying to figure out how to take pics since he's still lacking most of a body to suit the new improvements.)

 

Dakota is just as laid back and outspoken as always. Boy band... what?? The original version of The Party is 3 guys and 2 girls, although the current version is still the 3 guys but only 1 of the girls (still not sure why the other one didn't come back.) Dakota might be a bit disgusted if she thought that someone figured her to be the type to chase boy bands.

 

And to have Daisy home... is often a bit surreal. At first I wasn't sure she was even the right one because the stains had faded a LOT, but the ones on the bottom of her feet were still significant. Other than that and washing off a little bit of dirt she almost looks new. I can't thank you enough Billy for putting your proverbial foot to my rear to ask about the layaway. After the two months of agony of looking at her page everyday, I was just about ready to lose it. Without your adamant suggestion I wouldn't have her, and my long time fawning over your Elizabeth, so Daisy feels like an inadvertent gift from you (and Raven of course.) I'm still not sure how long it will be until her significant other is completed, especially since Lorelai sole her head... But she's just another reason for me to get Naiomi's Closet open as soon as I can. (Lucas is about ready to kick my butt and often complains that he can't have a life yet.)

I remember being really surprised once we could see Sohi and Bree together and it being undeniable how similar they were. Not making them sisters was just unthinkable.

Haha! Thanks! With so many different personalities in our ever expanding brood, most days it feels like a loony bin around here. I see that you are new(ish) to the forums, so welcome! I really love mine and Ravendruid's family, each one is so very special, but Tamayuki is still my Little Prince since he was my first. I'm a bit odd because 4 of my DD are boys (Obitsu body hybrids) and Dolly (Tama's best friend) is the unofficial 5th since he was also made by Volks. Raven and I are the only ones who think that though. He may be tiny but he has a BIG personality. Trust me, there is never a dull day around here, because if I want them to or not, the stories of our DD kids keep writing themselves in my head. Sometimes I wonder if my DD wishlist will ever quit expanding. It wouldn't be so bad if custom DD weren't so easy.

The pig is Squee and Sohi insisted that hers would be named 'Po after Raven told her that she couldn't call him hippo. I really love Bree because it is SO hard to see her face and not smile. Her sculpt is so underrated.
