SisterKyoya Posted June 25, 2014 HELP! I'm SO confused! I can't figure out how to do this correctly. All I want is some text, a pic, some more text, etc. (regular photo story format) but I cannot figure out how to do it. Either the text is all at the top or all at the bottom. Plus the lack of a preview button is confusing. Galvatim Posted June 25, 2014 Once you add the photos, there should be an option for each one to add text under it. That's how I remember it at least. You might have to upload the photos first, mark the post invisible and post, then go into edit and add the captions/dialogue bits.
Yami Usagi Posted June 25, 2014 Yep! Upload all of the photos, then add any text that goes before the story in the above area. Next mark your post as "unpublished"(it's near the bottom), and upload all of the photos. This will take you to a different edit screen where you can add captions to each photo and mark it as published when you're done
kymaera Posted June 25, 2014 Step 1: Hit the create post button and you get a form like this: Step 2: Fill in the title and a description and most importantly, uncheck the published button. This allows you to make changes before anyone else sees them. Step 3: Add your images by dragging and dropping or by using the add images button. Figure.fm tends to reorganize them, but we can deal with that easily. Step 4: Hit save and your post will be created, but since it's not published, no one can see it. Step 5: Hit the "edit this post" link at the top to make edits and the screen will change slightly. Step 6: Click on an image to add text that will show up beneath it with a pop-up form: Step 7: Hit save and close, then the post will be updated with the text: Step 8: If you need to add images or rearrange their order, go to the top and click on the manage post link and you'll get a drop down like this. Step 9: In this case, I'm assuming you'll need to rearrange. If so, you'll get this box and you can drag things up and down to rearrange. Step 10: Once you've got everything how you want it, go to Manage Post and you'll get a box like the one below. Check Published, then save and everyone else can see it. SisterKyoya Posted June 25, 2014 Thank you Kymaera! That was hugely helpful! I did finally figure out about adding the captions to the pics, but I had no idea about rearranging the pics. Also I greatly appreciate you taking the time to do a photo tutorial for me, I am a highly visual person so it made it much easier to understand! ~Sister Kyoya Forum Blog: Badger Pocket Tales (Family story from the beginning) | { Old Family story reboot: Start Here! } Follow me on Twitter, Flickr & Instagram
Ravendruid Posted June 25, 2014 Oh, thank you very much! The setup for that site is very different from any others I've used and I was feeling rather confused as well. I hate to say it, but the main reason I've avoided Figure.fm is because the whole site just confuses me horribly, and I've been using the internet since the days of text-only browsers. I don't know if it really is that badly laid out, or if it's just something in my head that won't let me wrap my brain around it. Maybe I'm just getting old and can't keep up with all you young whippersnappers and yer Flash and yer Javas, and yer Silverlights...[old man rant] Back in my day we didn't have these fancy WWW adresses. No, it was Gopher or nothin'. And even that was newfangled, mostly we just dialed up local BBSs, that was kinda like a mini interwebs, but mostly only one person could log on at a time unless the admin was rich enough to have more than one line.[/old man rant]. kymaera Posted June 26, 2014 You're both welcome. Don't feel too bad. I know several others who don't post on there as much because of the interface. Hope that this helps you and others.
