Best hands for playing the violin?

Recommended Posts

Kymera

Hi lovelies. Last week I bought Ivy (DDdy 07) a scale violin. As you can see... She can't hold it very well with her regular hands.

I know Volks has gripping hands and sword holding hands available... Which do you think would work best?

The violin came from Rau's Country Store in Frankenmuth, MI. The lower level has an amazingly well-stocked miniatures shop. This is the 8" violin, but they had smaller and larger sizes also. There was 5"-ish one that seemed to work well for mini-sizes.

Are these the same ones that Parabox sells too? http://parabox.jp/eng_new/instruments.html Either way it very well detailed for the price.

As for DD hands no clue which will work better. I wish they had more styles available for vinyl dolls.

I have a similar violin for my girls and I always use the regular gripping hands for them, they seem to work well. I don't have the newer styled gripping/magic wand hands to try out tho, no clue how those might work. Those seem to have a smaller "opening" between fingers specifically for holding things that are thinner like a magic wand or similar. So maybe those would work for the bow of a violin?

EDIT: Here's a few pics of Rei with the violin. Seems I used her right hand as a gripping hand and her left as the regular default hand. I'm guessing the left grip hand didn't look as good to me as the default at the time, this *was* 3 years ago. See what you think....

Thanks for the pics! I ended up splurging and buying both sets. If I'm right, the sword-holding hands will be perfect for holding the neck. It's not like I won't use them. ^_^

You're welcome! Good idea on getting both sets, makes things easier and YES, your girls will definitely benefit from hands that hold weapons.

I have the answer! 06 Sword-holding hands.

The hands fit perfectly around this violin and she can actually hold the bow without sticky tack or a rubber band.

I also bought the 08 gripping hands. I think the pose on the left gripping hand is too narrow for the violin neck (I haven't tried it). The right gripping hand would be a good pose for the bow, but you would need a bit of sticky tack or rubber band.
