Danny Choo Smart Doll Boy [NSFW]

To me it's definitely looking like a male head, more along the lines of a mid-90's bishonen with the long nose and pointy narrow chin.

 

 

 

I think that's why i like it xD I'm goin for the whole goth bishie look with a muscular body. Now that i look at it i kinda dont like the chin, I'm looking for something like dis....

Oh man, I just really wish I could design Eiji's head (I'm really good at accurate 3D shapes from 2D images...) but I haven't had access to 3DS Max since I was in school. And there is the fact that Danny never asked me... But still! I really, really want to! For that simple fact it has been hard waiting.

 

I'm still not sure why Danny has the Smart Doll heads styled in the way he does. It has never struck me strongly as anime. It is unique, but different. I don't really know what I'm trying to say other than as long as there IS a head, there is at least some possibilities with it. There just isn't one head that would work for all anime guys. Danny has said that he has plans on making more guys, so there is hope there as well. I'm just getting impatient to get my hands on Eiji to start discovering what's possible.

So excited! Learned the other day that Danny will be bringing both Eiji & Ebony with him to SMASH! Sydney this year in August. He wont have either Eiji or Ebony available for sale, just for display (although he will have Mirai & Kizuna for sale...hoping he'll be offering clothing / accessories too). Will make sure to take lots of pictures.

Hey sister! Would you mind asking Sammy if any male sculpt close the look of Shiro Fujimoto (from Ao No Exorcist) will ever be made? Like, a manlier, older and more muscular frame? A nire angular anime style face? Thanks~

From Eiji's page Danny says: "While I did mention that I don't plan on making anime or game licensed Smart Dolls for the female line - the male version will have a ton. I personally want to make Yagami Light (Death Note) and Solid Snake (Metal Gear Solid) and will apply for the licenses when the timing is right."

 

I googled Solid Snake and he definitely has a manly sculpt, much more in line with American comic book style than the slender anime style. So I think there is at least a good hope for it. Personally I'd be SO ecstatic if Kotetsu T. Kaburagi & Barnaby Brooks Jr. (Tiger & Bunny) were made. I've got such a bad anime crush on Tiger, and he's no young bishi boy either. Since the Smart Doll Boy has yet to even be released (come on Danny!! Arg!) it is hard for me to guess how well he will do or not. Of course I'd love to see him do amazingly well and I think there's a good chance for that knowing how many BJD boys there are. Yet it all comes down to people putting their money where their mouth is. Without the sales, there will be no reason for Danny to pursue the boy line any further.

 

Will there be manly sculpts in the future? I can really hope but I'm not sure if even Danny himself knows at this point. There is just so much left that still needs to be decided, and with no updates as regularly as we'd like, for now it is just a waiting game. I hate waiting.

Thanks for the reply! Omg I wish I had defined the sculpt as Tiger now! He is the perfect iteration of the feeling I want to create with my character! And yes even though I'm a guy I admit to him being my animan crush and think he really isn't a bad reason to turn gay...

I have been watching this thread for a while now and I'm so anxious to see Danny's new boy. Has anyone heard any news lately? I know Danny is going to Anime Expo in July so crossing my fingers that we will see him before then.

Good to know I'm not the only one who likes Tiger more than Bunny! Bunny's okay but personality wise he often feels like a one trick brooding/vengeful pony... I absolutely love Tiger's Japanese voice actor. He adds so much humor to his character that it makes him irresistible (this did not translate into the English dub and he just sounds like a flipping idiot. The less said about the dub the better. )

 

The last we heard about when with Eiji was fall/Autumn and that all the 3D print sculpts we saw had something wrong with them. So after that part is done there is still the faceup to be determined, eyes, wig, clothes, packaging... Hey Danny, where's your fast forward button? I wanna push it so I can have Eiji!! I've been squirreling away mah monies so I can throw it at you!

 

I'm still checking Twitter every day for new info, but so far this is all that's been posted for Eiji. So that's all we've really got to go on.

Oh man, Fall/Autumn!!! Dang, that's a long time from now and the waiting is killing me.

He posted a pic on his instagram of Eiji today.

He still looks pretty girly to me, but I may be able to work with him.

Hmmmm yeah that's a bit more boyish then i thouht he was gonna go for, i wanted him more ~manly bishie~ xD.... the chin and eyes are a bit too round for what i need but i think that can be fixed with a little elbow grease xD

 

The only thing that i don't think can be fixed with modding is the mouth being too small and boyish but I'm gonna wait and see if a different faceup helps (danny-san said he was gonna do one thats more "grumpy")

Saw it today on instagram as well, I think it because his lips was too pink, man should have more darker pink-ish lips, if he doesnt smoking lol, and the eyelash was too thick anyway i think the face was great you can see the jaw line, and the real deal was his vinyl body haha and maybe with straight angle we can see his face structure more.

Ya the mouth is too small and so is the nose. I know hes's going for Eiji but when you are trying to translate a male into doll form some features need to be accentuatued. The chin could have been a little wider than pointed. I will wait for more pictures too, but he may be workable with some mods.

Now we need some good DD modders over here...

Still looks like a girl's head to me. I'm a bit disappointed.

When I saw the shot without reading the context I thought it was a modded 07. ^^; Yeah, that nose isn't big enough for what I want. I could probably do some mods to the mouth and chin, but I'd need to do additive to the nose to make it work. :/

It really is just a 07 with a longer face. I am glad I don't need him sine I already have a 07 for my boy.. just need the body is all now.

I rather like his features, but wow, his nose starts really low... @__@;; Since he has a more defined nose bridge, his facial propotions would look better if the nose started between his eyes instead of under his eyes. This way he has a really long face and hardly any chin. Well, the camera angle isn't doing any favour to it either, but... this could be a deal breaker to me, unfortunately. .__.;

 

I also worry if his profile will be flat like the girls', I feel he might look a bit odd next to my DD girls. I don't mind the flat profiles on my Azone pureneemos since their eyes and mouths are just painted on... but since DDs and Smartdolls have more defined facial features, I'd like a more defined profile as well - if that makes any sense. ^^;

 

It's too bad if Danny won't sell the body separately. :C I really like it, but I doubt I'll need the head or any of the fullset stuff (I guess you can only buy Smartdolls with a face up, eyes, wig & clothes?).

I think he looks like Neris but with smaller eyes, because they share that long face. I agree that it would look less long if his jawline was wider, and that may have saved him for me. I'm not a fan of wide mouths though, I personally wouldn't change that. Otherwise I'd've just bought Visuadoll Takeshi. He's definitely masculine, but I hate how wide his mouth is. All the Visuadolls are nice, but I think they look more like resin bjds, so they wouldn't look right with the DDs either. We need something in between, where they have juuust enough realism, but without the nose and mouth crossing it over into bjd territory.

 

Also, I think Eiji's eyelashes and eyes are too feminine. He may still look a bit more masculine with less eyelashes and a different, smaller set of eyes.

Hmm you're right, he does look better grumpier for some reason. Maybe a refaceup would help then.

I've been lurking this thread recently, although I'm not the biggest Danny Choo or smart doll fan (don't like the flat faces on the girls personally), I am interested in the idea of a male doll in the anime aesthetic, especially as I read earlier on boys like the one's in Free! had been accepted as suggestions. I was really secretly curious to see the head but I'm really not feeling him.

 

He's really not a great looking doll for a boy. He'd make a better mature female doll I reckon, he reminds me of the likes of Alna, Kos Mos and Sheryl sculpt wise which is no bad thing, except for the fact that he is supposed to be a he and not a she.

 

The nose is way too low and on the small side, I agree with everyone else, also he looks quite flat again (ugh) and his face is too slender and feminine.
