Danny Choo Smart Doll Boy [NSFW]

Ha ha ha! This is so awesome! I am so happy for you! Like I told Danny several times on Twitter and Instagram, if *anyone* deserved to get one of these advanced Eiji bodies for clothes working, it was you. I'm glad he decided to let you get one.

 

Even tho I'm not interested in getting an Eiji for myself, my GF sure is so we're definitely looking forward to any and all pics you provide of this body.

 

As for ideas on hands, you know he has to get the fists and thumbs up/down hands. How can he not have those? Open palm (paper) hands are a must as well as gripping hands so he can hold things like his cell phone, backpack, guns, knives, swords, etc.

 

So how does the 01 head fit onto this body? Yours seems to be on there pretty well, did Danny actually make an adapter for Volks heads or are you using something you made? I'm very interested in seeing how that was done.

Eiji has glasses and I'm sure we have all seen it a thousand times before how glasses wearing anime guys adjust them. A hand to replicate that would be so awesome! Also he should absolutely have fist hands. A proper manly clenched fist, not a loosely curled fist like DD hands. Thumbs up and high five hands would be neat too.

 

Pointing hands will be fine as long as the proportions fit the body, it doesn't have to be girly. Men can totally point, just look at phoenix wright for example haha

As for hands for Smart Doll Boy, I will say that tight fists are a must, thumbs up and down and definitely need gripping hands so that the doll can hold more things.

Peace hands looking girly I get, but. . . pointing hands, really? All my dolls NEED to point at things, okay? XD

 

To make the pose less girly, I'd say relax the thumb (less of an "L" shape relative to the index finger), and don't curl the other fingers in quite so tight. When I've seen guys point at things, it's with a kind of "Yeah, whatever" air to it.

 

Sister, I gotta say two things: 1: You lucky duck! Shots with a full-sized DD please! And 2: You nailed those sitting poses. They're such DUDE poses. XD

That body looks awesome! I love those manly sitting poses too as for hands, like everyone else, would like to have the fist, thumbs up hands...

 

I would highly appreciate it if you can take comparison pics with DDS and a 65cm BJD if possible. The body is lovely, I just hope the head is the same as good as the body.

First off, I'm super duper happy for you SK! I know how badly you've wanted the SmD Boy body home with you~ I'm glad you were able to pinch your finances in order to get him! Really looking forward to seeing what clothes you make for the body along with additional pictures of the body & head (blank & painted). Like others have said you definitely nailed those sitting poses with this body I totally need to see him next to a DD girl soon

 

As for hands for Eiji I have to say I was very disappointed to read that Danny has said the pointing & victory/peace hands are too "girly". Plenty of men in real life & anime do pointing gestures along with the victory sign so I don't really understand why he thinks these are too girly for Eiji. Now if he means that the hands as they are now look odd on Eiji then he just needs to redo the hands to better fit him. I still very much want to purchase a SmD Eiji in the future, but I also want to have all the hand options that the SmD girls have. So my opinion is have all the hands that are currently available for SmD girls be made available for SmD Eiji

 

aquilla429's hand suggestion is awesome and I totally back that one up! You always see guys with glasses doing this in anime so it would make for a great hand option for Eiji. I'd also like to see Danny improve the sculpt of the hands for all his dolls. I've seen pictures (and in person) of the SmD girl hands and do think he could do with improving the sculpt because I don't care much for how they are currently. I'd love to see sculpting like how the Dollfie Dream "Deka" hands have

 

For other hand suggestions I found this Hand Tutorial on Deviantart and really love the hand gestures they have drawn as references. My favorites from this are the "dramatic" grabbing hand, accusatory pointing hand, and "The World is Mine!" hand (none of them are actually named, but these were the things I thought when looking at the hands haha).

 

Eiko82- Thank you! I totally agree on the thumbs up hands. How else would my boys thumb wrestle? I know that Danny has already done a 3D print of the fist hands at least.

Error-Chan- I can really understand how you feel. I'm honestly still in shock. Even up to last week I wasn't sure how all this would turn out, and the fact that he arrived on our 16th wedding anniversary just feels like icing on the cake. (I find it extra humorous that Ralph is supposed to be 16 years old.)

 

Between Bree and Rainie, those girls can point at everything. If you ask me, pointing hands are a must. The set of hands that came with Eiji are the same size as the pair of Volks Lrg. hands I have, but not so wide (so they look less chubby.) Total bonus is that Eiji's hands don't have the hard lines on the palms that I've seen on Mirai's hands. These ones look much more realistic by comparison. The large Volks hands fit on Eiji's wrists! I'll be thinking about a simple mod that can be added in the slot in the part of the wrist joint that extends into the palm (designed to hold a magnet) so they aren't floppy. Hands any bigger than what Eiji currently has would look somewhat freakishly big. I've seen some of the yaoi manga with the guys with huge/out of proportion hands and they always looked odd to me.

 

Baldylox- I really, really have to thank you for vouching for me (what? On instagram too?? ) I'm pretty sure it was because of your support that yesterday he said he's looking forward to seeing the wardrobe I'll make for Eiji. No pressure, right? Right? (Even just thinking about it makes me really nervous!)

 

I'll be taking loads of pics, but I already know that there will be some minor changes to the lower torso but I'm not entirely sure on the details yet. The best I can do is to show off what I have to give an idea what Eiji will be like for the final version. I'm going to do a massive DD/Obitsu/SmDB photo comparison so it will be easy to see how Eiji compares. There's a strong chance that I'll take a 360 degree set of photos of the full body as well, as long as I can get him to stand up and not fall when I turn the cake plate I use for the smooth transition. Tama keeps on giggling about a boy at Uncle Billy's.

 

I'm personally a bit curious about the gripping hands. The ones that I have are actually made from a pretty soft vinyl that's fun to squish, but Danny said he's going to use a slightly harder vinyl next time. It is MUCH softer than DD hands and if it wasn't going to be changed I don't know how he would hold onto anything because of the lack of structure.

 

Ah, the head! I meant to say something about that! I've heard a lot about the Mirai neck needing to be adapted to work with the DD heads, so that's what I was expecting. I popped off Eiji's head and put on Ralph's... no problems whatsoever! It doesn't wobble or anything. Frankly I was stunned! It is on there pretty solidly, but not so hard to take off and put on as the DD heads on the DD bodies.

 

Aquilla429- Yes the hands can touch the face, and easily too. The elbow is designed much like the DDIII elbows. I've had to wrestle so much with my older DD's 'secret joint' (With Dakota and Daisy it's a real arm wrestling match!) so checking how far the SmDB would reach was one of the first things I did. Ralph can easily reach around and hold onto the back of his neck, something that can be hard to get some of my DD to do.

 

Megane hands! I knew there was something obvious I was missing! Wow, I think I lose otaku points for that oversight. Yeah, I really don't know why Danny thinks pointing hands are girly. Maybe I should just google 'manly pointing hands' to prove him wrong. Here's one! And another, and another! Pointing isn't just for girls!

 

Heerowings- The high-five/'paper' hands are definitely useful and the gripping hands are a must. I have a character I want to do who has a katana.

Poofiemus- I totally understand the need to point. It was so hard to get Tama to do that properly when I only had his basic hands. The pointing hands are one of the big reasons why I finally got him his fullset a couple of years ago.

 

I have to say it entirely tickled me when you complimented the dude pose. Being able to do those is one reason I've been looking forward to the SmDB body. I was hoping that he would be able to bend a bit more at the hips so his knees could be closer to his chest, but it's maxed as it is. Before we started collecting DD, I really didn't know anything about posing bodies!

 

Jazijaz- Sadly I don't have any BJD, just DD & Obitsu (and hybrids of the two.) I would take pics if I had one, but I've never even seen one in person.

 

As for the head... I'll honestly admit that the version 2 Eiji head would be much better. I haven't done anything with the V1 head yet because I still have pictures to take, but even I'm still trying to decide what faceup would be best for the sculpt.

 

TheWhiteRabbit- Thank you! Is there any poses or anything you'd be specifically looking for that you'd want me to get pics of?

 

Innocentsake- Thank you! It makes it so much easier having the SmDB body here to remind myself why I have to keep my finances completely in check through September. After that I'll feel like we can breathe again until savings resume in Jan for Len & Rin. I'd really love to get the full Eiji upon his release, but I really don't see that happening. The best I can do is to get him as soon as I can so I'll have the final body modifications to fit clothes to.

 

Pics of Ralph & Ellie will be up soon (darn post takes so long to reply to! HA!) I'm pondering making them a Prom outfit set, because if nothing else the pics would be adorable! Ralph would never admit to it, but she's the reason he became the magically growing boy. He's finally taller than she is.

It could be summed up as, 'I don't want to because I don't pay attention to boys.' So I kind of take that as a bit of a challenge to nicely prove him wrong. It's better than having all the SmDB grunting like cavemen as they vaguely nodd in the direction of whatever they refuse to point at while their hands are stuffed in their pockets. Sure there may be a situation where that's the way it goes, just not every time! LOL!

Yep! I was planning on doing head swaps for everybody. I'm afraid that I'll have a reenactment of what happened when Dakota's body got here... and where Ralph originally came from. But even so I'll persevere and hope no new characters will pop up in the process. Poor Tama is going to look horrible on such a buff body. It's like his worst nightmare.

Like this? As strange as it might seem, I'd think these hands could be pretty useful and funny. I saw a drawing of a single hand in this pose and thought it would work really hilarious to have Eiji creeping up on someone with his hands raised like this. Somehow it brings Creepy Woody to mind.

Hey SK, thanks for letting me know about how the head attaches! I'm amazed there wasn't any issue with sizing, that really bodes well for people who have boy styled DD heads and want to put them on the SD boy body.

 

As for the hands suggestions here, I about died laughing when I read about the "prostate exam" hands! Soooo creepy! Why not just call the pointing hands "nose picking" hands instead? What guy do you know who DOESN'T do that?

 

One set of hands I *didn't* think of but now want is the Hadouken hands! Who wouldn't want some martial arts posed hands like that? Even if you aren't making your guy do fireballs, one of those hands can be used for uppercut motions quite nicely. ANY type martial arts moves could look really cool with those.... gut checks, knee bashes, crazy zen workout style moves too!

 

I also like the idea someone suggested for the fist hands. Having them tightly clenched and a little bigger is a great way to show them as more manly. The Obitsu fist hands for the 40cm thru 50cm bodies look awesome, they're the perfect look for a fighting or angry styled fist. Speaking of Obitsu hands......

Anyways, the more hand options the better but I understand that money is involved every time a new hand mold is needed so Danny isn't going to be doing EVERY crazy hand pose we can think of. Too bad tho..... I need a "flipping the bird" hand for Rei to give Manami on a daily basis. LOL

Keep in mind Smart Dolls are heavily influenced by the simple lines used in Anime.

But I'd like to see "manlier" heads on him, maybe like Lucas, because Ralph's small DDH1 head makes Eiji's neck look too long for my taste.

I hope Danny will make other head sculpts for the girls, because they'll look so put of place with the more realistically dimensioned Eiji. Please think about telling him that!! The flatness of Mirai's profile contrasts too much with Eiji!!

And I just can't wait to make some chocolate boys huhuhuhuh.

As for hands I should ask if he can cross arms?

And he should really consider making hands holding smartphones and tablets for the girls AND boys since technology is a big part of their world.

The "V" Victory/peace sign hands are a necessity if for no other reason than Rock, Paper is just boring.

Innocentsake & Chibinezumi- The "Prostate Examination Hands" cracked me up way more than it should have. Even Raven couldn't figure out why Danny thought pointing wasn't manly.

 

Doko- I thought about the holding hands as well but I was a little unsure if it would work with DD. Even so I still like the idea. The heart hands are definitely girly unless the boys were in the Cute High Earth Defense Club, but even for them Eiji's body type is wrong. I think the handshake hands would be interesting, but I'm not sure how much use they would get. I think the glove hands would be interesting but I'm personally indecisive over if molded gloves would be better than actual sewn ones. Sewing them would be a pain, but trying to settle on just one style for molded ones would be difficult as well. Thank you for the suggestions!

 

Danny said that 4 pairs of hands fit into a mold but I don't know how many styles he's planning making. I'm just going to pass on the info to him and let him figure it out. XD

 

Baldylox- Of course after I told you that, Ralph's head fell off. It does go on easily, but it's not quite as solid as Eiji's head. I really wish Danny would make the stem into the neck longer, that would help. I'm thinking about getting some fish tank tubing to cap off the top, that should fix the 'heads will roll' problem. I could easily toss in cut pieces in Naiomi's Closet orders if it was requested. Saves the pain in the rear for everyone else.

 

I'm so tired that I was trying to think of more uses for the hadouken hands if Danny makes them... and it occurred to me that I'm sure one of my boys would use them to scratch his rear end. Or somehow play a punishment game and the loser would end up doing painful pushups (with crunched up fingers.) I think I better insist on my boys having at least a moderate level of class. Or I could just put Tama in charge. He seems to control Dolly well enough so he's not too rude.

If there were hands for flipping the bird, I'm afraid that Lucas would use it WAY too often.

I'm curious, do you have any thoughts on customizing Eiji's head, or are you going to leave it blank? I haven't cut out the eye holes yet, but they already look much smaller than the DD. I'm not sure what size eyes he will take.

 

KiraKiraDoru- Well, that's quite the amount of excitement you've got there. Thank you! I'm actually really looking forward to an influx of DD boys on the forums once Eiji is released. After complaining for 3 1/2 years I finally get a real vinyl non-hybrid boy! I'm elated that DD boys will be easy to do now and they will look SO nice! (Yes, it will be totally okay to drool! LOL!)

 

I was going to show all the unique DD sculpts on Eiji's body so lucas will surely be in the bunch. Some of the girls I'm thinking will look odd, especially Dakota with her red lipstick! I'm trying not to think about what Bree will look like, I just know it will be weird.

 

Danny is weirdly protective of his vinyl girls and so far has them very tightly controlled of what he's willing to do with them. The boys on the other hand are a completely different issue. Total double standard! However, he has already given us some info on what creators can do to make new head sculpts for the guys, so I don't see why someone couldn't do that for the girls too. I just don't think Danny will do it.

 

I'm actually really interested in 'chocolate' colored Smart Dolls. I've wanted a DDdy in that skin tone for a few years now. I'd be beside myself with delight if for some strange reason Danny decided to do a mint green skin tone (or more realistically, pure white) because I have two boys that need that skintone.

 

 

I have no shame in putting Eiji in girls clothes.
