TheWhiteRabbit- I'll admit that I did feel a little sorry for him. Mostly I was trying to find out if the t-shirts I already drafted would fit, so I'm pleased to know that I just need to do minor alterations to get a basic shirt for him to at least cover up in. That would be pretty quick to do because pants & shorts are really a necessity around here. Lucas is stuck wearing his underwear.

"Lizard" can double as "shut your trap", and if there's a gap between the thumb and the other fingers, can be used for holding very thin things.

Does anyone have an idea btw what the Hollywood Hero License will be like btw? I am definitely interested in the more "buff" body.

(Sorry if this is the wrong place t ask, I figured I could ask it here since it was first designed to be Eiji.)

The image is what I thought of when the 'Star Trek' hands were mentioned. I couldn't do the Vulcan salute as a kid but I knew of it because of how much Next Generation I was watching (I was the only geek in the house.) Of course discovering that I couldn't do something made me mad, so I taped my fingers together for an hour. I've been able to do it ever since, and with both hands I might add. Most things in my life can be summed up as 'I couldn't do something. I got mad. Then I learned how.' It was true when I was 6 years old and taught myself to tie my shoes, and it applies to everything I'm doing all the time now. My confidance? Merely an optical illusion. (Especially when it comes to being thrown into designing clothes for Eiji!) Everyday my life is a lesson in 'fake it until you make it, and hopefully the screwups aren't too bad.'

 

I've already taken the pics for the 360 degree sculpt pictures with the straight on view, the head pointing up, and the head pointing down (still need to be made into GIFs.) Is there any last requests on pics of the default sculpt before I open the eye holes? I don't expect there will be, but I thought I'd point it out if by chance there were. For 3 GIFs I shot close to 350 pictures so it will take me a while to get them assembled. For those of you who don't know what I'm talking about with these GIFs, here's the one I did for the blank 07 head.

 

I'm thinking of doing some (3 max) of the full body and depending on if the pictures look alright when the GIF is finished. I don't remember the max size that Photoshop will do. If it does work without the quality being crappy, what 2 poses would be the most useful? The 1st of the 3 would just be a neutral standing pose.

 

I'm going to start working on the head and body comparisons tonight but it will take me at least a couple of days to get it done because I'm expecting to take a lot of pictures. Since I can't hand Eiji to you guys so you can look at him, pic spam is about the best that I can do. Even with my minor gripes, the SmDB body is really awesome (I'm still undecided about the head sculpt.)

 

Luca-Nyan- All I've heard with that so far is what's posted on Eiji's page, but I get the feeling that Danny's getting antsy to work on it but Eiji needs to be done first.

The animated GIFs are finally done. I'm posting these as links because they loop continually and I just thought that would be annoying having them load every time this page was viewed. I apologize for the light flickering, I think the dark background was kinda messing with the light sensor in the camera despite the light being constant when I took the pics.

 

As a small side note, the narrow corners of the eyes are a bit of a pain to cutout. Most DD eyes (22mm) won't look right from my tests so far. The colored part is just too big and fills the eye socket weirdly. Unfortunately I think all the eyes I have are 22mm...

Sadly I feel that the more I see Eiji, the less I like him. .__. When the first photos of his body appeared on Danny's site, I really liked the look of the body... but now I realise that in most photos, the body was in the same pose and often photographed from the same angle. And the lighting was really soft, so it made those, uhh - for the lack of a better word - ridges, on his lower stomach less pronounced. Especially now seeing photos of the body in artificial lighting and with strong shadows, I don't get the sculpting of his stomach. I guess they're meant to be really pronounced hip bones, but... something about them really puts me off. Well, Danny has said that he doesn't have interest in the male body which probably explains the odd sculpting, but... *sigh* Another thing that I find unfortunate is his chest joint... it doesn't seem to bend much at all. After seeing this lineup on twitter, the joint also looks very sharp. I'm not really a fan of male dolls going into that kind of "boobs out" pose by default... I'd prefer them to be able to slouch forward more. :C But for a proper slouch, the joint should be positioned at the waist rather than right under the breasts/pecks (which is one of the major reasons why DDs still win over Smartdolls for me).

 

But I guess I'll have to see what his final face looks like before making any decisions. I might be able to live with the torso as long as I keep him clothed... xD;;;

Just took the pics real quick because he was standing that way anyway. I hadn't looked closely at that pic that Danny tweeted, but that pose really is stupid. If you notice, all the girls are posed with the same chest problem. Without the stands some of those girls would just fall over! I chalk it up to the person who posed them not really knowing how a body should realistically appear when standing. Or this could be the explanation:

As for the sculpting of the lower torso, perhaps Danny was aiming for something like this? Even so, it's pretty extreme. I haven't seen what the resculpted torso will look like, I've only heard that the dimensions have changed a little.

 

Is there other poses you would like to see him in to make it easier to resolve your questions?

 

I'm finishing up the DD heads on the SmDB body today and starting on the DD comparisons so taking a few extra photos are no biggie.

 

Quick note about Eiji's eye holes: Oval iris work much better than round. I have yet to find a pair of round or slightly round eyes that don't look strange, unless you are going for the full black eyes that aliens have.

I also learned that Ralph should not be allowed to browse Pinterest.

I will check out the other threads now, thanks to your pictures I decided to save money so I can get the body! the head is still as *pending*, I think I will wait for other owner pictures to see if the head is worth it or not.

I hate to say it, but every time Danny makes those comments about having no interest in male anatomy, or how certain hand sculpts are too "girly" it rubs me the wrong way. Maybe it's just me, but I find it odd he would even feel the need to mention that.

@PuPaKa: I agree with you. The first time I read his comment about having 'zero interest in the male body' it made me feel uncomfortable because he said it as an excuse for not being able to come up with something better(I still think the body is amazing ). I appreciate that he listens to his customers since most of us have always wanted a male vinyl doll but when he makes comments like that it makes me feel like he created the doll without love and it's quite sad that he doesn't enjoy making male dolls it feels like he's only making them for profit..... or maybe I'm reading too much into it *sighs*
