Wow! That tan Eiji ("Crimson"? It's not a bad name, but it doesn't really suit his image, I feel) is so handsome. On the one hand, the wig is a bit long for my purposes, but he's a great mixture of pretty and hunky with it. Now if only I could get him with Eiji's eyes somehow...

Does anyone know if the cargo pants will fit Eiji?

 

I remember Danny showing the dev version of Eiji wearing them saying that they look great on him too. Actual-Eiji is slightly different of course but I don't really see why they wouldnt. You could always ask Danny just to be 100% sure, he's always responded to my questions.

Huh, is it just me or is that less clear than the 'Clear Mirai' there used to be? Gives it a different feel.

 

It'd be interesting for photoshoots if I wanted to make Kaito look more robotic than usual but I admit to not being entirely clear on the purpose of these clear versions;; (if you'll excuse the pun i didnt realise i made at first)

Greetings all, I've been lurking this thread for months, finally going to post because I've been particularly interested in the tan Eiji.

Is anyone else bothered that the ladies are anatomically correct but he's not? (Quite possibly the answer is "yes", but 96 pages is a lot of thread to ask a newbie to read through.)

I dont think either of them are anatomically correct?? The ladies have a slight indentation and he has a bulge. Both have more than a barbie doll and less than your average BJD. I feel like I'm in the minority that kind of wishes male BJDs -didnt- have danglies because it makes me feel kinda awkward, but I just deal with it. I think it'd be weird if Eiji did, and I'm kind of glad he doesn't...if not just because my Kaito is meant to be a robot and what does a robot need one for lol.

I was actually thinking about the female chest pieces after seeing them in all their glory in the "oppai" photo story. In the Smart Doll store all the option sizes (M/L/XL) have nipples, and until you mentioned it I hadn't noticed that the S size don't. I wonder if anyone has ever asked Danny about the whys of it… little inconsistencies like that drive me nuts.

 

I'm in the camp that says it's easier to cut/sand things off than it is to add them, so I always think it's better for dolls to have the details to begin with. That said, I don't need Phicen levels of realism.

I believe the reason for no nips on both the female and male chest pieces is so they don't look cold in their tight fitting default tshirts. Danny has mentioned possibly releasing a male bust with nips in the future, and even took a poll about their shape and placement at one point.

I was actually disappointed when I found out that Eiji is not anatomically correct down there. Realistic bodies never bothered me and the realism of some dolls is one of the reasons why I love BJDs, even the Yo-SDs have some sort of realism there lol

I recently got a Seedring Male (which is an Obitsu-made doll), and was surprised to see he is completely realistic. First male vinyl doll I have ever seen with actual, realistic-looking bits.

Then again, that's how it is with Obitsu and azone bodies (no realism whatsoever) so it doesn't bother me anymore. They're just different types of dolls, BJDs are the ones that approach the realistic bodies more so I would be very disappointed to see a male BJD like a ken doll, unless they're unisex.

My guess is that Obitsu included genitalia at the artist's request as it's detailed in the sketches.

 

Maybe dollmakers should make it an "option part" like Phicen did.

On a side note. do thy sell just Eiji heads in the main shop? even with eye holes closed. i would LOVE to get a extra head to make a eye closed (only one/winking) head for my El since he has his eye that he hides.

Thank you! He was a Grail doll- I wanted him forever! Finally got him!

Smart Doll Crimson (Tan male doll) Is up for sale if anyone else has been interested in the tan skin tone for him.

 

I really like the different skin tones, I never thought we would get the option for tan in vinyl, anime-stylized dolls! Im glad he's marketing them with lots of different people in mind.

Danny says they still need tweaking so more delays is possible.

So we got fist hands, splayed hands (that remind me nicely of some hands the Kaito figma comes with so will work well for graceful singing poses) and...um. What are those other hands meant to be, exactly? I guess they could look like a gun but my friend had to immediately call them 'prostate examination hands' lmfao

 

Really hope there's a 4th one cos it'll be kind of sad if the girls have 8 hands now and Eiji only gets 3 :c

They're megane hands, I think! For the the pushing of glasses up onto nose thing. I'm at work so can't find a photo, but will add in later.

Ahaha yeah, some people said it's a gun (not really), and I would say it looks like a "Yo!" Gesture when put to the forehead. And some said that it looks inappropriate lmao

 

I'm so glad he finally came up with hands for the guys, but it would be nice if he could add in a 4th pair, such as a pointing sign or something. Otherwise, at least the pricing will be cheaper with just 3 hand pairs lol

Little update. it look like it will be only the 3 is this set.

Another update, Danny confirmed that the two fingers gesture is "supposed to be for holding up glasses". I then asked him if that meant that he'll be making glasses for SmD guys...and he replied "Yep"!!!!! THAT IS AWESOME AND I CANNOT WAIT! I remember a while back he posted on his site that he was working on 3D printed glasses, and I believe the white pair he's wearing right now was something he made himself. I love glasses and I'm sure that Eiji would look lovely in them! Just what he needed ^^
